A Delightful Distraction Awaits You at This Desert Destination
MIRACLE Springs Resort & Spa Desert Hot Springs Review
Review by Michael J. Herman TheCriticAtLarge.com
Nestled amongst the desert landscapes outside of Palm Springs California is the quiet enclave of Desert Hot Springs. And comfortably situated within its bosom is a delightful resort called Miracle Springs Resort & Spa. This 110 room hotel offers outstanding desert views, wide expanses, and a comfy and homey feeling throughout. The same can likely be said about its sister property next door called Desert Hot Springs Hotel.
Our three nights at Miracle Springs were filled with soaking luxuriously in their 8 hot springs mineral baths. Miracle Springs boasts the only pure hot spring in the area with waters rising from 400 feet below the surface to fill the spas with 140 degree earth-sourced mineral baths. When waters hit the atmosphere they instantly cool to an ideal 111 degrees. Even a mere short immersion in the springs can renew and revitalize any traveler, or simply luxuriate in the effervescence of pure health and opulence.
However, the initial reason to visit may be for the hot springs, but the reasons to stay are three.
*The Hot Springs
*Capri Restaurant
*Miracle Springs Spa
The Hot Springs
Miracle Springs Resort offers 24/7 access to its amazing outdoor Miracle Springs Hot Springs. With a variety of choices to make, you can find different experiences at each pool. Ranging from hot to warm, each bath offers a different vibe. While one may be hotter than another, one may have stronger jets or no jets. Some are bigger like the central swimming pool which sprawls through the area, while others are more intimate and offer more privacy.
This visit offered a spectrum of experiences while enjoying the mineral baths. On Friday and Saturday Night, the property was sold out and the loud and crowded spas felt more like a college fraternity house or
Las Vegas party with loud bombastic music and plenty of partying young people. Hardly my recipe for relaxing, but Sunday night when the property was less than forty percent occupied, the hot springs were quiet, private, and rejuvenating.
In fact, while traveling my colleague was suffering the tail end of a cold and after a couple of hot springs soaks, her vitality was restored, providing a first-hand testimony to the healing qualities of Miracle Springs’ as a destination value.
Capri Restaurant
Recently named “2024 Restaurant of The Year” by its city, Capri is a charming eatery that feels more like a café along the boulevard than a hotel restaurant. The service provided by Irene was exceptional and highlighted the best of Miracle Springs. The 2014 Cup Cake Moscato was fruity and well rounded offering blends of melons, apples, and peaches with the slightest hint of grapefruit. It paired well with the salmon and gigantic baked potato. The mixed fruit fresh fruit smoothie was absolutely delicious and gave my taste buds the rollercoaster adventure they were seeking.
Large House Salad, Salmon filet, and potato with mixed veggies or a giant piece of homemade chocolate cake were surprises I did not expect. Every aspect of the dining experience was superb. I was also surprised that the entire meal was under $75. What a bargain!
If in the Desert Area, be sure to visit Capri at Miracle Springs Spa they offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Perhaps the best reason to visit Miracle Springs after of course their waters, is their spa.
MIRACLE SPRINGS SPA
Manager Chrissy Stanford runs a boutique spa providing a myriad of spa services including facials, massages, and others. I enjoyed a wonderful Luxury Facial followed by a full body scrub.
The facial was quite relaxing and Sandra provided a warm and inviting space in which to relax and find my center. The facial included a deep face wash to cleanse the pores, multiple wraps and masks with exfoliation and a deep moisturizing process left me feeling every bit like a limp noodle on her treatment table.
A wonderful neck and shoulder massage rounded out the 50-minute experience leaving my face looking and feeling soft and supple, with baby-like skin tone. According to spa manager Chrissy Stanford, I looked
“Well refreshed.”
It’s hard to say, but yes… even better than Sandra’s Luxury Facial was Julie’s full body SOS (Sugar Oatmeal Salt body polish). A full body, neck to toe deep scrub that removes all dead skin, stuck lymph, and agitated or coagulated chi.
It’s not just a dusting.
Julie’s hands worked hard for more than an hour releasing toxins from my body, replacing them with essential oils, and then wrapping me in
two layers of shrouds under a hot blanket to bake into the skin the healing elements of the oils and the minerals in the salts.
Following the treatment, I was slathered with salt and sugar in nearly every nook and cranny and after a thorough shower my entire body felt rejuvenated and energized. My face was radiant and my skin was soft, supple, and new. I asked about the salt and sugar content’s health concerns for Diabetics and those with high blood pressure and was informed that the crystals used are too large to penetrate pours or enter the blood stream.
Spa services range from $55-$160 with custom spa packages available throughout the year.
